Single Review: NETHERHALL – NO LOOKING DOWN

New vocalist Matthew Preston has joined Netherhall at an exciting time.  The ambient metal band performed at the sold-old HRH Metal festival at Birmingham O2 Academy, headlined by Devilment and Decapitated. Moshville Times compared Netherhall’s performance to US band Fallujah, mixing technical and death metal elements.

In the same month Netherhall were invited to perform at the Black Sabbath ceremony at St Luke’s Church in Birmingham. Black Sabbath were awarded their own ‘Heavy Metal Bench’ by the city. Tony Iommi said he was ‘delighted’ at Netherhall’s performance.

New single ‘No Looking Down’ debuts the gnarly vocals of new band member Matthew Preston. The tension in the track is exhilarating and  Preston’s anger makes this a thrilling ride from start to finish.

Long-standing Netherhall fans have nothing to fear. Lewis and Tom continue to compete with guitar and bass effects pedals that fill your ears with deeply ambient riffs. The harmonies sound clearer than ever and Jake (cap turned backwards ) revels in Netherhall’s heavier sound.

The band have recorded something very special, richly textured, catchy, not to be missed by fans of tech and death metal.
